Mira Mahfouz, Jerusalem Foundation Director for east Jerusalem Programs and projects: An experienced English teacher. Mira has developed, coordinated, and managed formal and informal educational projects among children of all ages, in universities and community centers. Mira was responsible for a women’s Jewish-Arab leadership development program in Lod and continued to offer teachers’ training programs through David Yellin. Mira has a BA in English literature and linguistics from Tel Aviv University, a BA in Arabic & Islamic studies, and in Educational management and leadership in formal and non-formal institutes from Bar Ilan University, and is currently studying for her Direct MA and PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies in Bar Ilan.
Ms. Simone Duval
Jerusalem District English Inspector
Simone Duval, M.Ed., has 29 years experience as an EFL teacher in Israel, serving as an English coordinator, National Literature Counselor, and teacher trainer at Hebrew University. She developed an online course on Problem Based Learning and coordinated various National Literature and curriculum implementation courses. Holding an M.Ed. in Language Teaching from Oranim Academic College, her research focuses on teacher perceptions of the English literature Bagrut program and knowledge construction in Professional Development Courses, as well as the UDL model. Currently, she is in her fourth year as the District English Inspector for Jerusalem.

Dr. Dua Jabr Dajani
District counselor in East Jerusalem
Dua Jabr Dajani, Ph.D., is the regional counselor for English language teaching at East Jerusalem School and holds a lecturer position at the David Yellin College of Education. Her research interests encompass enhancing critical thinking in schools, exploring the impact of schooling on cognitive development, English teaching methodologies, and preparing educators to lead professional learning communities effectively.

Prof. Yaron Schur
Head of the Attentive Teaching Dpt. at David Yellin College
is the founder and head of the Institute of Attentive Teaching (AT) at the David Yellin Academic College of Education, Jerusalem. He has vast experience in teaching in diverse frameworks, working with learners of different ages in high school, university, teachers’ colleges and at the Feuerstein Institute. He developed the main tools for Attentive Teaching – the Mediated Interactions, the Dynamic Learning and the Thinking Journey – and is active in teaching them to student teachers and experienced educators. The Institute enables the implementation of AT in schools and in diverse subject matter areas. The combination of resilience and understanding in the classroom is enhanced through the implementation of AT.

As Pedagogical Project Manager for “Bridging Horizons”, Rafeef builds on my experience as an English teacher to support students and educators in East Jerusalem in improving language proficiency and digital skills. She collaborate with schools, organize educational events, and encourage the use of technology and AI to promote learning.

Yoni Yahav, Ph.D., serves as the Coordinator for Bridging Horizons, has extensive experience in language education, particularly in East Jerusalem.
